01 Montreal

What we see in the ducts here

Montreal is plex country. In the Plateau, Rosemont, Villeray, Verdun or the southern half of NDG, duplexes and triplexes with outdoor staircases are often heated by electric baseboards or hot-water radiators, with no duct system at all. If that is your home, duct cleaning is not what you need: your dryer vent and your mini-splits are.

Ducts show up as you move away from the core: in the post-war bungalows and split-levels of Saint-Laurent, Ahuntsic, Anjou or LaSalle, in the detached homes of Côte-Saint-Luc and Hampstead, and in the Town of Mount Royal, the garden city laid out by Frederick Todd from 1912, where many houses have been retrofitted with forced air over the decades. Downtown condo towers usually have an air exchanger or a fan coil system rather than a full duct network.

In older homes, the ducts were often extended when the basement was finished or an addition went up. Those extensions are where we find the most dust: long horizontal runs, many elbows, never cleaned. We clean every accessible duct, vents and returns included, and the dryer vent is free.

02 Practical

Do you have ducts? A 30-second check

  • Floor or wall vents in most rooms, plus one or two larger return grilles
  • A furnace or air handler in the basement or a utility closet
  • If you only have baseboards or radiators and no vents: no duct system to clean
  • Two insulated pipes going outside from a box in the basement: that is an air exchanger

Inspection

We look at the system first: ducts, access points, vents and problem areas. You know exactly what will be cleaned before we start.

Protection

Floors and vent areas are protected. Loosened dust stays in the ducts and in our equipment, not in your living room.

Cleaning

With our professional equipment, we dislodge and remove dust and debris from the entire accessible system: main trunk, branches and vents.

Check

Final inspection and airflow check. Before-and-after photos on request.

05 Questions

Duct cleaning: questions from Montreal

01My triplex has baseboard heating. Do I need duct cleaning?

Probably not: without vents and a furnace, there is no duct system. If you have a dryer, its vent should still be cleaned every year, and any wall-mounted heat pump once a year.

02Can you work in a home with street parking only?

Yes. Tell us about parking restrictions or a narrow lane when you book (or when you call) so we can plan where the truck goes.

03Do you go to the Town of Mount Royal, Westmount and Côte-Saint-Luc?

Yes, as well as Hampstead and every borough on the island. The same prices apply.

04How often should air ducts be cleaned?

Every 3 to 5 years for a typical home. With pets, allergies or after renovations, every 2 to 3 years.

05How long does duct cleaning take?

Usually 2 to 4 hours, depending on the size of the house and the number of vents.
